It’s that time of year when I rant about how grateful I am to do what I do.
Hard to believe that I’ve been doing this for 14 years now… I like to say that LinguiScience is my fourth baby. I remember it like it was yesterday. After the birth of my third son, I no longer wanted to work outside the home as I wanted to stay home with my children and provide my family with a better quality of life. So, I started looking for a home business. With a degree in biology, a certificate in marketing, experience in sales, customer service, translation and project coordination, starting a translation business seemed like the obvious thing to do. And this is how came to life LinguiScience, a name that came to me as I was looking for something that conveyed my passion for science and my love of words.
Gradually, what was meant to supplement the family income became a profession that led to my full financial autonomy. I’m very proud about that but what fascinates me even more is how much I love what I do, from the bottom of my heart. Not only do I enjoy searching for the perfect word, I enjoy dealing with my clients. They appreciate my work and tell me so on a regular basis. I also enjoy keeping on top of the latest technologies that allow me to improve my work skills and to innovate. I just enjoy everything, and anything related to translation. Customers sometimes have crazy demands and I always rise to the challenge.
Also, over the years, I have created business relationships with other translators and graphic designers, honest and passionate people, who make my work even more enjoyable. I have worked very hard to get where I am, but I assure you that during these 14 years, my bad days at work can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
That said, believe me, LinguiScience is here to stay. Machine translation tools are improving every day, artificial intelligence accelerating the process. However, one needs only to use these technologies to their advantage and not to see them as a threat. That’s what I do and plan to do up until my last word.
Thank you to all my clients for making this possible.
